Like an insidious, intoxicating and enchanting philter, Macondo’s music tends to make you lose all sense of time and space. It makes your blood boil little by little, and goes to your head just as steadily. Macondo infuses modal and improvised jazz with African rhythms, popular childhood melodies. It gathers the different life experiences and universes of each of its musicians. As if under a spell, they musically and spiritually feed off each other and give us a mixed jazz that only asks to be shared. Grooving, even dancing, is never too far away with this music, at times even introspective. The combination of epidermic syncopes, nuanced melodies and underground pulses act as revealers of the soul. Macondo offers an open and accessible jazz, like a prospect of what the world and living together could, or should, be like. A pleasure not to be given up. A music to savor without moderation.
